Materials

Stylplex is proud to have a strong experience in working with elements in plexiglass, polycarbonate, petg, impact resistant methacrylate, pvc.

These materials need specific skills and continuous investment in new technology which make possible to work with greater precision and excellent quality of finishes.

Plexiglas® (methalcrylate PMMA poured or extruded)

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is a thermoplastic material characterized by: clearness, high impact resistance, aging resistance, optical purity, permanence, easy to work with and easy to thermal forming. Plexiglas® is very similar to glass but with extra characteristics which have allowed to replace the latest in numerous uses, in fact it is also called “acrylic crystal”. Plexiglas® is clearer, more resistant and also lighter than glass. It can be used for outdoor spaces thanks to its resistance to any weather condition and because it doesn’t get yellow with the passing of time. Thanks to its surface without pores, it accumulates much less dirt in comparison to other materials, and allows for a higher level of details. Plexiglas® is suited for a vast range of processing and products with implementation both in industrial components and in accident prevention items, safety glass, and for the production of furnishing, advertising display or shops and indoor areas fittings. In comparison to other materials Plexiglas® has more aesthetic value, nevertheless it cannot be used a structural element when temperature is constantly higher than 60 degrees Celsius if appropriate measures are not taken into consideration.

Polycarbonate

The word polycarbonate indicates a general polyester from carbonic acid popular with the name of Makrolon or Lexan. This material has got in itself numerous proprieties such as: great toughness, thermal and impact resistance, light weight and clearness. Polycarbonate is used in the following fields:

  • Building, civil, industrial for the construction of roofing and windows
  • Military and aeronautic
  • Furnishing and lighting
  • Fast moving consumer goods for the construction of electronic elements, household appliances and packaging
  • Motor vehicle and shipbuilding

Petg

It is a thermoplastic resin suited to be in contact with food. Depending on the process and on the heath treatments, it can be transparent or semi-transparent. It has extremely shiny and glossy finish and, in colours that are not opaque, it shines for its clearness. It has a high resistance to impacts and chemicals, an excellent toughness and a low refraction. PETG is also used for its electrical properties, chemical resistance, performance at high temperature, self-extinguishing capacity, and speed of moulding.

Pvc

The abbreviation PVC is the acronym for polyvinyl chloride, which is a thermoplastic material of synthetic origin obtained from salt and oil. PVC is a versatile thermoplastic that finds multiple uses, so much so it is considered one of the most used plastics in the world. This plastic material makes possible to get both rigid and flexible products, and even in liquid form. PVC is a light weight but long lasting material, it is resistant to wear and tear, water repellent and recyclable.
